Rebecca Uchill

Rebecca Uchill is Associate Curator of Contemporary Art at the Indianapolis Museum of Art, where she has organized exhibitions in all media, featuring artists and collectives Omer Fast, RothStauffenberg, spurse, and Adrian Schiess. Her summer 2008 exhibition On Procession explores parades as motifs and activities in contemporary art, and includes an actual parade in downtown Indianapolis. At the IMA, Uchill is deeply involved in shaping the institutional approach toward new media: she spearheaded the ongoing renovation of the museum’s video art gallery and she is the founder of the museum’s interdepartmental Variable Media Art team, which focuses on preservation, conservation, and display of time-based or otherwise nontraditional objects of art.
Uchill has worked in curatorial and education roles in institutions including MASS MoCA, the Brooklyn Museum of Art, and the CUNY Graduate Center. She has her BA in Interdisciplinary Studies from NYU and her MA in Art History from Williams College. This fall, Uchill will enroll as a full-time PhD student in the History, Theory, and Criticism of Art section of MIT’s Department of Architecture.
